With one of the stormiest winters almost over, there’s a lot to look forward to for the 2007 fishing season. The 2007 season will bring higher numbers of coho along with plenty of quality chinook. Combine that with our incredible halibut fishery and you have fishing destination plus. With limits for 2007 the same as 2006 and with no new closures, the Ucluelet area should prove itself well.

Fishing in March and April for the most part is done inshore. Great fishing can be found
right at our harbour entrance along side Beg Island or just turn right and fish the Red Can
tack.

Other proven hot spots like Bear Rock, Mara Rock, and Swale Rock are excellent
areas to explore at depths ranging from fifty feet to the bottom. Green flashers combined
with white hootchies or small herring is all you need to catch chinook in the six to
twenty pound range. Look for the large schools of herring that have come in from
offshore to spawn. If you find these schools, your best fishing will happen if you fish the outer edges of the school. Prawn fishing is an added bonus, but check for area closures and limits.

There are many other eco activities for all ages to enjoy in our area. Whale watching, hiking our groomed trails, or bear watching are but just a few of the outdoor activities available.

If you plan on bringing your own boat to the Ucluelet area, be sure you have all the necessary safety equipment on board and in good working order.

If you require charter or fishing information for the Ucluelet area, please don’t hesitate to give us a call and we would be happy to assist you.
